Traditional Irish Music generally takes place in the pubs. During the summer months you will be spoilt for choice. Concerts are sometimes arranged in the Town Halls and Hotels. TripAdvisor gives a good resume.
Clifden Boat Club has training courses for the beginners and facilities for the experienced. Check on their web site for what is available.
Whatever your capability, there are walls to suite. The Twelve Bens provide an excellent challenge.
The abundance of lichen shows how clean the air is and several rare flowers thrive in the area. The wild flower exhibits at the Clifden Pony Show are a delight to see.
The coral strand and Manin beach are excellent places to collect shells. Other areas where there are rock pools are good for shrimping, and exploring the small crabs, and sea urchins. Beachcombing can turn up many surprises. Once there were thousands of colourful toothbrushes! The range and colour of the seaweed is wonderful. Kelp is still collected for fertilizer and cosmetics.
We are fortunate in having several types of beaches around Mannin Bay.
Candoolan has a sandy strip when the tide is out but also great rock pools for shrimping. That is 0.87kiometers from the house so just a short walk.
Boat Harbour is 0.89 kilometres. That’s for people who wish to swim off the harbour steps into deeper water without the sandy bit.
Stony beach is 1.15 kilometres. That has wonderful rounded stones of many sizes that are great for painting up as door stops or paper weights. Good for beach combing but not for swimming.
The Coral Strands are at the end of Mannin bay. At 7.79 kilometres they are more of a bicycle ride away. They are great for collecting shells but useless for making sand castles.
Mannin Beach is 11.79 Kilometres away. It is on the other side of the bay from Errislannan. It has long stretches of sand. Best got to by car for an afternoon at the beach.
The Owenglin Cascade, Marble Quarries, Doon Castle, Sky Road.

The gardens of the Connemara are well-known for their beauty, variety and uniqueness.
Rain, soft sunshine and the warmth of the Gulf Stream combine to make ideal conditions for
the creation of magnificent and magical gardens. The general landscape varies greatly
throughout the region from the stone walled farmlands to the rolling hills and fresh waters of
Lough Corrib to the wild mountains and valleys. Within this landscape lie garden treasures
that have been laid out by a variety of local people.
